Waiting for the Miracle

Maria C. Khoury – Every year during Holy Saturday, for many centuries, there is a most magnificent miracle that continues to take place in Jerusalem since the time we were allowed as Christians to celebrate ceremonies in public. Pilgrims from all over the world gather in Jerusalem to witness the greatest of all miracles-the Miracle of the Holy Fire.  Read more »

Ray Hanania’s World Comic Strip March 1, 2009
The Israeli electorate’s continued turn to the extremist right undermines peace and reinforces the certainty of continued violence and conflict. Israel’s Prime Minister-to-be Benjamin Netanyahu has a history of fanaticism that has ignited the region into Middle East conflict.

AFAGHANI: The Ripe Moment for Peace is over, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, 01-29-09

The Ripe Moment for Peace is over

By Rawhi Afaghani – It might be too early to discuss the consequences of the Gaza war on the Middle East peace process, but as a conflict analysis and resolution specialist I fee compel to do so. On several occasions President Barack Obama mentioned that the Israeli-Arab conflict, one of the most complex and protracted conflicts in the modern history, will be a top priority on his foreign policy agenda. I unfortunately strongly believe that it might be already too late even for the Obama administration to make headway on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The ripe moment for peace was lost and it may take another cycle of violence before the Palestinians and the Israelis can talk peace again. Read more »

HANANIA: Arab Americans face dilemmas in presidential election, For Immediate Release, 02-10-08

Arab Americans should expand focus in presidential elections
By Ray Hanania –
Once again, Arab American voters are in an election dilemma, stuck between a rock and a hard place as they contemplate whom to support in the presidential elections. Should they follow the lead of other American voters and support the candidates most likely to win the presidential nominations, Democrats Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton, or Republicans Mike Huckabee or John McCain? Or, should they follow their conscience, confused by candidates’ doubletalk on the Middle East, and vote for candidates who reflect their views but can’t win? In reality, it doesn’t matter. The Arab American vote is not a vote that will change national elections. But it can be a vote that changes Arab American politics and community dynamics. Read more »
