09-01-09 Gilad Shalit in the Arab media

Gilad Shalit in the Arab media
By Ali Younes –
Every time I read and watch how Arab media outlets cover the story of prisoner’s exchange of the Israeli solider Gilad Shalit and hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, I come to think how Arab media have fallen victims to Israeli PR machine (propaganda). There are several issues at play here when covering this story. Note that Gilad Shalit is always mentioned by name, I know his name, you do, and maybe my grandmother knows his name too! Read more »

08-23-09 Protests against release of Lockerbie bomber driven by revenge not justice

Release of Libyan in Lockerbie bombing puts past behind us
By Ray Hanania –
The release this week of Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, the convicted mastermind of the 1988 bombing of PAN AM Flight 103 over Lockerbie, opens old wounds by also a debate that should have taken place years ago. It’s understandable that Americans are angry with the decision. Many Americans were on board the flight and lost their lives in the bombing. What has never been understandable is the American indifference to the killing of innocent civilians who are Arab, Muslim or of other races by American terrorists. Read more »

That Great Satan Iran and the hypocrisy of the mainstream American news media and public when it comes to what is right and what is wrong in the world. We’ll blast Iran and its President Ahmadinejad but we are silent when the same actions are taken in Israel or in the U.S. War in Iraq.

HANANIA: Dueling hoaxes expose more than youthful lies in bonfire of the bigotries, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, 10-18-08

Dueling hoaxes expose more than youthful lies in bonfire of the bigotries

By Ray Hanania – The incidents happened weeks apart, a young Christian girl in Palos Heights, a community notorious for anti-Arab hatred and racism, told police that she had been sexually assaulted by an man she described as “Arab looking.” Police developed a sketch of the suspect and the community response was immediate. The sketch was posted on nearly every store window not just in Palos Heights, but throughout the Southwest Suburbs across a 15 mile span that happened to correspond with the regional settlement of Arabs. HANANIA: Hate drives much of Israel’s government policies, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, July 30, 2008

Hate of Arabs drives much of Israel’sgovernment policies
By Ray Hanania –
You can never meet an Israeli without hearing them say, either angrily or wistfully hoping for change, that the biggest problem in the Middle East conflict is the “refusal of Arabs to accept Israel’s existence.” The reality is just the opposite. Israelis and Jews as a people refuse to recognize the rights of Palestinians to exist in Palestine.

HANANIA: Facebook caves into political pressure on Israel-Palestine dispute, For Immediate Release, Maerch 17, 2008

Facebook caves in to pressure and threats
By Ray Hanania –
Boy. That didn’t take long for Facebook to cave in to extremist pro-Israel pressure. The ink wasn’t dry on yesterday’s column in which I applauded Facebook for doing the right thing. Doing the right thing is so rare in today’s world of lying, deception and political principle. And apparently, it’s even rarer at Facebook when it comes to the issue of Palestine and Israel. HANANIA: Rev. Wright crosses line but is wrongly disparaged, For Immediate Release, March 15, 2008

Rev. Wright crosses line but is wrongly disparaged
By Ray Hanania –
Barack Obama’s pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr., is only saying what many Americans who are victimized by ongoing American racism and hatred believe deep down. It’s just that when you are a victim of American-style hate, and when your voices are intentionally shut-out because of your race and your religion, you sometimes go a little too far, as Rev. Wright did in emotional sermons at his religious pulpit. Rev. Wright may have crossed the line, but he doesn’t deserve the attacks that question his patriotism or his sincerity in challenging growing racism and hatred that dominate not only American society but also our foreign policy conduct.
